Low Chance of Rain in Metro Manila SONA Day
Metro Manila is expected to experience a low chance of rain during the morning of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 28, sources said. The forecast points to mostly dry conditions in the early hours, offering a favorable setting for the event.
However, the state weather bureau warns that localized thunderstorms might develop by afternoon, bringing rain to parts of the capital. “In the National Capital Region or Metro Manila, where our president’s SONA will be held, we expect a relatively low chance of rain from morning to noon, while thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon to evening,” a weather specialist reported.
Regional Weather Outlook and Monsoon Effects
Meanwhile, the western provinces of Luzon, including Ilocos Region, Abra, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro, may see rainfall due to the southwest monsoon or habagat, local authorities noted. This weather pattern typically brings moist winds and occasional showers to these areas.
Aside from these regions, the rest of the Philippines will generally enjoy fair weather with only isolated rain showers or thunderstorms possible. This means most parts of the country should experience stable conditions throughout the day.
Monitoring Tropical Disturbances Outside Philippine Waters
Authorities are also keeping track of three weather disturbances forming outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. Forecasters expect these systems to either dissipate or move away from the country’s boundaries within the coming hours or days, minimizing any threat to local weather.
