Low Pressure Area and Southwest Monsoon Bring Widespread Rain
A low pressure area inside the Philippine area of responsibility is set to continue its impact, bringing heavy rains to many parts of the country this Tuesday. Alongside the southwest monsoon, locally known as the “habagat,” this weather system is expected to cause moderate to heavy rainfall over Luzon and other regions, officials reported.
Weather experts noted that while the low pressure area may develop into a tropical depression, its chances remain low as it nears the landmass. At 3 a.m., the system was located over the coastal waters of Paracale, Camarines Norte, signaling the start of widespread wet weather.
Rainfall Forecast by Region
Local meteorologists said, “Many parts of Luzon will experience moderate to heavy rains due to the LPA and habagat, particularly in Cagayan Valley, Cordillera, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Bicol region, and Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan).”
Meanwhile, the Ilocos region and other areas in Luzon are expected to have generally fair weather with only isolated rain showers. However, the southwest monsoon will also bring a high chance of rain to Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Community members in Mindanao reported that regions such as the Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga will experience rainfall today. Isolated thunderstorms and showers are also forecasted in Davao Region and Soccsksargen provinces, including South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City.
Marine and Safety Advisory
Maritime authorities have advised that although no gale warnings are in effect for any seaboards, offshore thunderstorms may affect sea conditions. Mariners are urged to exercise caution due to possible rough seas caused by these weather disturbances.
