Low-Pressure Area Brings Scattered Rain Showers Across Luzon
A Low-Pressure Area (LPA) combined with easterly winds will cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over many parts of Luzon, sources said. This weather disturbance is expected to affect Metro Manila and neighboring provinces, bringing intermittent rainfall from noon through the evening.
Weather specialist Obet Badrina noted that while the Low-Pressure Area has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone, its presence still signals significant rainfall in several regions. Residents in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, and nearby provinces should prepare for wet conditions.
Movement and Impact of the Low-Pressure Area
The Low-Pressure Area is moving west-northwest and may weaken or dissipate later today. As of 8 a.m., it was located about 70 kilometers east-southeast of Calapan City in Oriental Mindoro. Despite its possible dissipation, the LPA will continue to influence weather patterns, especially in the southern parts of Luzon.
Meanwhile, easterly winds—warm breezes coming from the Pacific Ocean—will contribute to cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms over Isabela, Quirino, and Aurora. This combination of factors adds to the likelihood of rainfall across various provinces.
Weather Outlook for Visayas and Mindanao
The Visayas and Mindanao regions can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies. The rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with occasional rain showers or localized thunderstorms.
Safety Precautions and Public Advisory
Authorities advise the public to stay alert for possible flash floods and landslides, especially during periods of moderate to heavy rainfall or severe thunderstorms. Taking precautions early is essential to minimize risks associated with these weather conditions.
