New Low-Pressure Area Spotted Inside Philippine Area
A new low-pressure area (LPA) has been detected inside the Philippine area of responsibility, officials reported on Sunday afternoon. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) confirmed the presence of this LPA as part of their latest tropical cyclone formation outlook.
Designated as LPA 08d, it currently holds a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, according to sources. As of 3 p.m., this weather system was located approximately 585 kilometers east-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.
Another LPA Outside Philippine Area Shows High Development Potential
Meanwhile, another low-pressure area, LPA 08c, which remains outside the Philippine area of responsibility, shows a high probability of transforming into a tropical depression within the next day. It was last tracked 1,010 kilometers west of Northern Luzon, local authorities noted.
Weather Conditions Across Regions
Pagasa’s 4 p.m. weather outlook highlighted that the Ilocos Region, Apayao, Cagayan, Zambales, and Bataan are currently experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. This is attributed to the trough associated with LPA 08d, community members said.
Additionally, the southwest monsoon, known locally as habagat, is bringing cloudy skies coupled with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan. Elsewhere, most parts of the country are under partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized weather disturbances.
Warnings on Possible Flashfloods and Landslides
Authorities have issued warnings about potential flashfloods and landslides due to the prevailing weather conditions. Residents in affected areas are urged to stay vigilant and prepare accordingly, officials reported.
