Low-Pressure Area Forecast Brings Heavy Rains
A low-pressure area forecast inside the Philippine area of responsibility is expected to cause heavy rainfall across eastern Visayas and Mindanao this Sunday, officials reported. This low-pressure area forecast has raised concerns among local authorities due to its potential impact on affected communities.
According to weather experts, the low-pressure area forecast, currently situated about 930 kilometers east of Southern Mindanao, is moving north-northwestward toward the eastern Visayas. Residents in these regions should prepare for continuous rain and possible weather disturbances.
Areas Expected to Experience Heavy Rainfall
The low-pressure area forecast is anticipated to bring significant rainfall to several provinces, including Bohol, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Caraga, the Davao Region, and Sarangani. Community members in these areas have been advised to stay alert as the weather system approaches.
Local leaders highlighted that the northeastern side of Mindanao will likely experience the first effects of the rainfall, with persistent showers expected throughout Sunday. “Darating ito sa ating lupain, lalo na sa hilagang-silangan ng Mindanao bukas, kaya magpapatuloy ang pag-ulan,” one official said.
Warnings on Flash Floods and Landslides
Authorities cautioned residents to remain vigilant against the risks of flash floods, landslides, and rising water levels due to the heavy rains. They urged communities to coordinate with barangay units and prepare for possible evacuations if necessary.
“If we need to evacuate, let’s update our barangay units,” a local weather specialist advised. Emergency response teams are on standby to assist vulnerable populations in the affected regions.
Potential Development into Tropical Depression Jacinto
Weather experts confirmed that the low-pressure area forecast has a “high” chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. If this occurs, it will be named “Jacinto” and become the 10th cyclone to enter the Philippine area of responsibility in 2025.
Officials continue to monitor the system closely and will provide timely updates to ensure public safety. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official channels and heed any advisories issued.
Fair Weather Expected in Luzon and Other Regions
While eastern Visayas and Mindanao brace for heavy rains, Luzon and most parts of Visayas and Mindanao are forecast to experience generally fair weather. However, localized thunderstorms may occur in the afternoon and evening in some areas.
“Since our weather will be clear, this is good news for our countrymen who want to do their laundry tomorrow,” a meteorological specialist remarked. Temperatures in Metro Manila are expected to reach 32°C on Sunday, providing warm and mostly dry conditions.
Palawan to Experience Southwest Monsoon Rains
Meanwhile, the Palawan region may see rainfall due to the southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat.” Residents there should prepare for wet weather and possible disruptions caused by the monsoon winds.
