Low-Pressure Area Outside PAR Remains Weak
MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) continues to show a low chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, local weather authorities reported Sunday.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the low-pressure area, identified as LPA 6h, was located 1,240 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon at 2 p.m. This system remains weak and unlikely to intensify soon.
Southwest Monsoon Brings Rain to Several Regions
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon, or habagat, is currently affecting the Visayas, Mindanao, Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and the western parts of Northern Luzon. Pagasa’s 4 p.m. forecast indicated that these areas are experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Visayas, and Mindanao are also under the influence of the habagat, resulting in wet weather conditions. Residents in these areas should remain vigilant as rainfall continues.
Localized Thunderstorms Impacting Luzon
Other parts of Luzon are experiencing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized weather disturbances. These conditions may cause sudden heavy downpours in some areas.
Warnings on Possible Floods and Landslides
Authorities have warned about the risk of flash floods and landslides, especially in regions experiencing moderate to severe rains or thunderstorms. Residents in vulnerable areas are advised to stay alert and prepare accordingly.
