Low-Pressure Area West of Philippines Develops
A low-pressure area west of the Philippines has formed but is not expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), officials reported in the latest weather update. This low-pressure area, designated as 08C, emerged from a cloud cluster Friday night, local meteorological sources noted.
Currently, LPA 08C is located approximately 640 kilometers west of Iba, Zambales, well outside the PAR boundary. “We do not see this entering the PAR. Generally, its movement will be west-northwestward or northwestward, away from any part of our landmass,” a weather specialist explained in Filipino during the forecast briefing.
Impact of LPA 08C on Luzon
Despite the low-pressure area remaining outside the PAR, its trough or extension will still bring rainfall to much of Northern and Central Luzon from today through tomorrow, community members said. These rains may affect daily activities and require precautionary measures in affected areas.
The same expert added that LPA 08C has a low probability of intensifying into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, easing concerns of a stronger storm system.
Cloud Cluster East of the Philippines Under Watch
Aside from LPA 08C, meteorological authorities are also monitoring a cloud cluster situated east of the country. “If it develops circulation, it could affect the eastern part of Northern Luzon as well as Extreme Northern Luzon by early next week,” officials reported.
However, as of the latest update, no circulation has been detected within this cluster, and its potential development remains uncertain, local observers said.
Residents in the northern regions are advised to stay updated as weather conditions may change in the coming days due to these systems.
