Two Low Pressure Areas Monitored in Philippine Waters
Officials reported that two low pressure areas (LPA) are currently being monitored inside and outside the Philippine area of responsibility. The low pressure area outside the Philippine zone has developed into a tropical depression, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In its tropical cyclone formation outlook released Sunday night, Pagasa revealed that the LPA, initially designated as LPA 08c, intensified into a tropical depression as of 8 p.m. The tropical depression was last observed moving slowly northward, approximately 1,000 kilometers west of Northern Luzon. It carries maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour with gusts reaching up to 55 km/h.
High Potential for Tropical Depression Formation Inside PAR
Meanwhile, the other low pressure area, designated as LPA 08d and situated within the Philippine area of responsibility, shows a high likelihood of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. It was located about 590 kilometers east-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, officials reported.
Weather Outlook: Improving Conditions with Isolated Thunderstorms
Pagasa’s 5 p.m. weather outlook forecast improved weather conditions over Luzon. However, Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao are expected to experience isolated thunderstorms on Monday. Community members noted that the western parts of Luzon, which have been experiencing scattered rainshowers, will see these replaced by isolated rainshowers.
Weather specialist Charmagne Varilla shared that the rest of Luzon will likely encounter isolated thunderstorms from afternoon until evening hours. This shift marks a transition to generally better weather conditions but with localized rain showers in some areas.
