LPA Enters Off Central Luzon; Rains to Persist Nationwide

Low-Pressure Area Enters Philippine Waters

A low-pressure area (LPA) has developed off Central Luzon within the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), local meteorologists confirmed early Monday. This weather disturbance is expected to influence the country’s weather significantly in the coming days.

As of 3 a.m., the LPA was situated approximately 1,230 kilometers east of Central Luzon, according to weather experts. The system entered the PAR around 8 p.m. on Sunday, signaling a shift in weather patterns across the region.

Despite its presence, authorities noted that the LPA currently holds a low chance of intensifying into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours. “For now, the low-pressure area has a low probability of becoming a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours,” a weather specialist stated.

Impact of LPA and Southwest Monsoon on Weather

The LPA’s trough is forecasted to bring overcast skies accompanied by scattered rains and thunderstorms particularly over the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Aurora, and Quezon. Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, is expected to enhance similar weather conditions in most parts of the country.

Satellite images reveal vast clusters of thick clouds covering large areas nationwide. This system will likely cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and across the Visayas and Mindanao.

In contrast, other parts of Luzon are predicted to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. No gale warnings have been issued for the country’s seaboards at this time.

Safety and Preparedness

Residents are advised to stay updated with local weather forecasts and exercise caution, especially in regions prone to flooding and landslides. The continuing rains brought by the LPA and habagat could lead to slippery roads and reduced visibility, affecting travel and daily activities.
