LRT-2 Operations Limited Following Lightning Strike
MANILA, Philippines — The Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) operations were limited on Tuesday to the stretch between Recto Station and Araneta Center-Cubao due to a lightning strike near one of its stations. This incident affected the catenary wire close to Antipolo Station, prompting the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) to adjust its service.
“The LRT-2 is temporarily implementing provisional service after lightning struck the catenary wire near Antipolo Station,” the LRTA said in Filipino in an official advisory. “Train trips are limited to the route between Recto Station and Araneta Center-Cubao Station, and back.” Commuters are advised to take note of this limited service and plan their trips accordingly.
Alternative Transport and Updates for Commuters
To assist affected passengers during the disruption, shuttle vans have been deployed along the impacted route. The LRTA encourages the public to regularly check its social media channels for timely updates on the status of LRT-2 operations.
Local authorities and transport officials continue to monitor the situation closely to restore full service as quickly as possible. Riders are urged to stay informed and exercise patience while repairs are underway.
