LTO Calabarzon Summons Bus Driver Following Deadly Crash
MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) Calabarzon has called in the driver of the Ankai passenger bus involved in a tragic road accident that claimed three lives in San Pablo City, Laguna, early Saturday morning. Authorities are investigating the incident that took place along Maharlika Highway Corner 7 Up Road and Soledad Santisimo Road intersection, Barangay San Francisco.
According to reports, the Ankai passenger bus collided with a Mitsubishi Montero at the intersection. The crash resulted in the deaths of three passengers riding in the Montero, while others, including the driver, suffered serious injuries. The LTO Calabarzon regional office is now taking steps to hold the bus driver accountable.
Driver Faces License Revocation Hearing
LTO Calabarzon regional director Elmer Decena stated that the bus driver has been summoned to explain why his license should not be revoked for reckless driving and endangering public safety. “This is part of our mandate to hold accountable those who endanger lives on the road,” Decena emphasized.
He further added, “The driver must explain why he should not be considered an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.” The hearing aims to ensure road users’ safety and uphold traffic regulations in the region.
