LTO Expands Palit Plaka Program Across Metro Manila
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has expanded the Palit Plaka Program to all Driver’s License Renewal Offices (DLROs) in Metro Manila. This move aims to streamline the plate replacement process and improve accessibility for vehicle owners, officials reported.
According to LTO-National Capital Region Director Roque Versoza III, the expansion will accelerate the release of plates, especially for motorcycle owners whose Certificates of Registration lack a plate number or who are still using their Motor Vehicle (MV) File Number as a temporary plate.
Greater Convenience for Motorists
Assistant Regional Director Atty. Dennis Barion emphasized that the program’s accessibility has been a priority. “LTO-NCR is doing its best to provide more convenience to the public by allowing plate claiming at DLROs, which are generally less crowded than District or Extension Offices,” he said.
Community members noted that this initiative reduces wait times and crowding, making it easier for motorists to claim their new plates without the hassle of visiting busier offices.
Who Can Claim Their Plates?
The agency reminded motorists that those with MV File Numbers starting with “13” and “1801” can now claim their plates if they meet any of the following conditions:
- Already issued a seven-character plate.
- Possess a six-character green plate.
- Registered their vehicle in 2017 or earlier but still using the MV File Number as a temporary plate.
Local leaders reported that these categories cover a significant number of vehicle owners who have been waiting for their official plates.
Where to Check Plate Availability
The LTO-NCR will post the list of participating DLROs on its official Facebook page, providing a clear guide for motorists. Additionally, officials recommend using the Online Plate Inquiry tool available on the LTO-NCR website or visiting the original LTO office where the vehicle was registered to verify plate availability.
Versoza also mentioned that plate status can be checked through designated LTO channels to ensure motorists stay informed about their plate release.
By expanding the Palit Plaka Program to more accessible locations, the LTO is taking significant steps to enhance public service and ease the plate claiming process for many motorists across Metro Manila.
