LTO Takes Action Against Yanna Motovlog for Road Safety Violations
A video posted by Yanna Motovlog on her own social media account became the key evidence leading to her accountability. The Land Transportation Office (LTO) described her actions as a serious breach of the standards expected from motorcycle riders. This viral footage sparked an investigation and ultimately resulted in penalties.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the LTO fined Yanna Motovlog P5,000 for riding a motorcycle without side mirrors and an additional P2,000 for reckless driving. Furthermore, her driver’s license has been suspended until she complies with the order to surrender the motorcycle used during a confrontation with a pick-up driver on a remote Zambales road.
Suspension and Enforcement Measures
LTO officials instructed all law enforcement agents to apprehend Yanna Motovlog should she be found driving on public roads while her license remains suspended. The motorcycle’s registration was also put on hold, and the vehicle’s owner will face consequences as the registration remains under alarm until the motorcycle is surrendered for inspection.
Following the viral incident marked by Yanna’s harsh remarks and hazardous maneuvers against the pick-up driver, she was summoned to explain her actions. She faced charges for reckless driving under Section 48 of Republic Act 4136, operating a vehicle without side mirrors, and driving without attached number plates. While she was found guilty of the first two offenses, she was cleared of the third since she is not the motorcycle’s registered owner.
Defiance and Disrespect Highlighted by LTO
The LTO’s decision strongly criticized Yanna Motovlog for her “outright disrespect” when she failed to appear at hearings and refused to surrender the motorcycle. The ruling stated, “This noncompliance not only violates the instructions mandated by this Office but also demonstrates outright disrespect for established legal procedures and regulatory enforcement.”
Moreover, her refusal to present the registered owner and motorcycle for inspection obstructed the investigation and delayed enforcement efforts. The LTO emphasized that this behavior undermines the integrity of regulatory measures.
In her apology letter, Yanna stated she would explain her side at the appropriate place and time. However, the LTO saw this as a lack of genuine accountability, noting, “This statement, instead of demonstrating genuine accountability, conveys an unsettling dismissal of the legal mandate to appear before this Office as the proper venue for addressing the matter.”
Responsibility as a Social Media Influencer
LTO officials underscored the responsibility Yanna Motovlog holds as a motovlogger and content creator. Given her influence within the motorcycle community, her reckless overtaking maneuver—executed without signals on a hazardous road with poor visibility—runs counter to the safe riding principles she should promote.
The LTO expressed concerns that her actions might normalize dangerous riding habits among her followers. Although she later showed remorse and pledged cooperation, her initial refusal to delete the viral video indicated a disregard for the seriousness of her conduct. By leaving the video accessible, she inadvertently encouraged a culture of reckless riding instead of accountability.
