LTO Issues Show-Cause Order for Motorcycle Road Stunts

LTO Acts on Motorcycle Road Stunts Incident

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) swiftly responded after a video showing a motorcycle driver performing stunts on a public road went viral. The LTO issued a show-cause order to the biker involved in these reckless acts.

The viral video clearly captures the rider doing stunts, dancing, and engaging in other dangerous behaviors while riding along a public road. Community members noted that the motorcycle lacked a license plate, raising further concerns about road safety and legal compliance.

Location and Details of the Incident

While a netizen claimed the incident took place in Bacoor, Cavite, officials have yet to confirm the exact location. Authorities are currently investigating to verify these details.

Formal Complaints and Penalties

Both the motorcycle driver and the registered owner have been summoned to appear before the LTO Central Office. The biker will face formal charges for reckless driving and for being deemed unfit to operate a motor vehicle. Sources reported that if found guilty, the rider may face the maximum penalty, including license revocation.

Meanwhile, the motorcycle’s owner must explain why the vehicle did not have a license plate attached, as this is a violation of motor vehicle regulations.

LTO Chief’s Statement on Accountability

“We are yet to determine if the owner was the one who was doing the motorcycle stunt. But whether or not he was the one in the video, he has to explain why his motorcycle has no license plate,” LTO Chief Vigor Mendoza II said, emphasizing the need for accountability.

Once the rider is officially identified, his license will be suspended for 90 days. Mendoza added, “There is a proper place for this and certainly, public roads are not included.” This highlights the LTO’s firm stance against dangerous driving behaviors on public roads.

Ensuring Road Safety and Compliance

The LTO’s actions reflect a broader effort to maintain road safety and enforce traffic laws strictly. Reckless driving and neglecting vehicle registration requirements pose serious risks to all road users. Local leaders and officials encourage motorists to exercise responsibility and follow traffic regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
