LTO Launches Plate Distribution Caravan for Motorcycle Owners
Motorcycle owners who have yet to receive their license plates from 2014 to 2017 will soon benefit from the Land Transportation Office’s (LTO) new Plate Distribution Caravan. This initiative aims to resolve the longstanding issue of unclaimed motorcycle plates, providing a convenient way for owners to collect them.
Scheduled Dates and Locations for Plate Distribution
The LTO announced that the Plate Distribution Caravan will take place on several dates across Metro Manila and Calabarzon. The schedule is as follows:
- August 18, Monday (3 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
- August 20, Wednesday (3 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
- August 22, Friday (3 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
- August 23, Saturday (1 p.m. to 5 p.m.)
- August 26, Tuesday (3 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
- September 6, Saturday (1 p.m. to 5 p.m.)
Local leaders noted that these events will be held in key locations to ensure accessibility for affected motorcycle owners.
Requirements for Motorcycle Owners
Community members said the LTO requires participants to bring specific documents to claim their plates. These include:
- Original and photocopy of the Official Receipt or Certificate of Registration
- Valid identification of the registered owner
- Deed of Sale if the motorcycle is not yet registered under the current owner’s name
The LTO clarified, “Only the distribution of license plates for motorcycles will be conducted in the said caravan.” This ensures a focused and efficient process for all attendees.
Leadership and Partnership Behind the Caravan
Officials reported that the caravan will be led by LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II. The event is a collaborative effort between the LTO’s Metro Manila and Calabarzon offices, including Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon provinces.
Sources said this partnership aims to streamline the distribution process and reach as many motorcycle owners as possible.
Clearing the Backlog After 11 Years
Earlier this year, Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon announced that the government successfully cleared the backlog of motorcycle license plates after 11 years. This milestone reflects the government’s commitment to improving transportation services and resolving longstanding administrative challenges.
Community members expressed optimism that the Plate Distribution Caravan will finally provide closure to motorcycle owners affected by the delay.
