LTO Launches Plate Distribution Caravan for Motorcycle Owners
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is set to roll out a Plate Distribution Caravan for motorcycle owners who have not yet received their license plates from the years 2014 to 2017. This initiative aims to resolve the long-standing issue of unclaimed plates and provide easier access for affected riders.
Scheduled Dates and Locations for the Caravan
According to officials, the Plate Distribution Caravan will take place on several dates at designated locations. The schedule is as follows:
- August 18, Monday (3 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
- August 20, Wednesday (3 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
- August 22, Friday (3 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
- August 23, Saturday (1 p.m. to 5 p.m.)
- August 26, Tuesday (3 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
- September 6, Saturday (1 p.m. to 5 p.m.)
Community members noted that these sessions will be held in Metro Manila and the Calabarzon region, covering Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon provinces.
Requirements for Motorcycle Owners
Motorcycle owners planning to attend the Plate Distribution Caravan must bring several important documents. These include the original and photocopy of the Official Receipt or Certificate of Registration, a valid ID of the registered owner, and if the motorcycle is not yet under the owner’s name, a Deed of Sale is required.
“Only the distribution of license plates for motorcycles will be conducted in the said caravan,” the LTO clarified, emphasizing that other transactions will not be handled during the event.
Government Efforts to Clear Plate Backlog
The caravan is spearheaded by LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II in collaboration with regional offices. This partnership underscores the government’s commitment to finally address the backlog of motorcycle license plates.
Earlier this year, transportation officials reported that the government successfully cleared the backlog of motorcycle license plates after 11 years. This Plate Distribution Caravan is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that affected motorcycle owners receive their plates promptly.
