A magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck the waters off Looc, Occidental Mindoro, early Sunday morning, officials reported. The seismic event occurred at 4:35 a.m., 24 kilometers northeast of the municipality, according to local authorities.

Meanwhile, Intensity I tremors were reported in several locations including Cuenca, Batangas City, Santa Teresita, and Mataas na Kahoy in Batangas province. Additional areas affected at Intensity I included the City of Bacoor and Carmona in Cavite, along with Sablayan in Occidental Mindoro.
No Damage or Aftershocks Expected
Authorities assured residents that the magnitude 4.9 earthquake off Occidental Mindoro is not expected to cause any significant damage. Furthermore, the likelihood of aftershocks is considered low, easing concerns among local communities.
