Majority Elects New Leaders for House Committees
MANILA, Philippines — The Majority bloc has elected new leaders to head key panels in the House of Representatives, reinforcing their legislative agenda. Former President and Pampanga 2nd District Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was chosen as chairperson of the House committee on poverty alleviation.
During Tuesday’s session, Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander Marcos Jr. of Ilocos Norte 1st District announced the latest batch of lawmakers elected to lead various committees. The selection reflects the bloc’s strategy to strengthen governance and address pressing issues.

Additional Appointments and Remaining Vacancies
The Majority also announced its members for the Commission on Appointments, including representatives from Pangasinan, Butuan City, Isabela, Cavite, Laguna, and Ako Bicol party-list. Meanwhile, San Juan City, Sulu, and Bulacan lawmakers were chosen for the House Electoral Tribunal.
Despite these appointments, several committees remain without chairpersons. These include panels on indigenous cultural communities and indigenous people, people’s participation, senior citizens, suffrage and electoral reforms, and welfare of children.
Local leaders noted the strategic importance of filling these remaining positions promptly to ensure comprehensive legislative coverage.
