Makati City Public Schools Lead National Achievement Test
Makati City public schools have outperformed regional and national averages in the 2023-2024 National Achievement Test (NAT), local leaders noted. The city’s outstanding results span all assessment areas and subjects, reflecting Makati’s commitment to quality education. This achievement highlights how Makati City public schools continue to set high standards nationwide.
According to reports from the Schools Division Office-Makati City, the city’s Mean Percentage Scores (MPS) in the 21st Century Skills and core subjects consistently surpassed both the National Capital Region (NCR) and national averages. These results confirm the success of Makati City’s education programs and reinforce the city’s goal of developing future-ready students.
Strong Performance Across Learning Areas
In the Problem Solving category, Makati scored an impressive 69.82, outshining NCR’s 63.69 and the national score of 60.76. The city also excelled in Information Literacy, earning 70.59 compared to NCR’s 61.56 and the national average of 58.20. Critical Thinking skills among Makati’s Grade 6 students were similarly strong, with a score of 65.13, well above the regional and national marks.
Makati’s public schools also led in key learning areas. The city recorded 74.82 in English, surpassing NCR’s 65.40 and the national average of 61.03. In Science, Makati’s MPS was 60.26, ahead of NCR’s 53.67 and the national average of 51.36. Mathematics scores reached 65.51, beating the NCR average of 56.44 and the national average of 53.34.
The city also scored 72.27 in Filipino, exceeding NCR’s 67.51 and the national average of 64.27. In Araling Panlipunan, Makati’s score of 69.73 topped NCR’s 61.92 and the national average of 59.54. Overall, Makati’s combined MPS of 68.54 in the NAT is significantly higher than the NCR average of 61.02 and the national average of 57.94.
Makati City Public Schools’ Early Education Success
Local leaders also reported that Makati City public schools performed better in the Early Language, Literacy, and Numeracy Assessment for School Year 2023-2024 among Grade 3 students. The city’s learners achieved an overall MPS of 78.27, well above the NCR average of 68.17 and the national average of 60.50.
By learning area, Makati continued to surpass both regional and national scores. In English, the city scored 80.77, compared to NCR’s 70.11 and the national average of 61.92. Filipino scores also topped the charts with 80.38, outperforming NCR’s 71.96 and the national average of 64.35. Numeracy skills in Makati reached 67.92, higher than NCR’s 55.28 and the national average of 50.22.
“We are proud of our young learners for doing justice to Makati’s efforts in laying a strong foundation for a better future through continuing innovations in early education,” local officials said.

During the current administration, Makati City government introduced programs and innovative measures that have raised public education standards nationwide. Public schools in Makati now rival private institutions in facilities, with many classrooms converted into smart rooms equipped with modern technology that enhances interactive learning.
Students benefit not only from quality education but also from free nutritious snacks during school days, provided by the city government. Additionally, Makati public school students wear custom-designed AB sneakers, a tradition for seven years, inspiring other local governments to provide similar footwear to their students.
