Malacañang Releases 2026 Regular Holidays and Special Days
Malacañang has officially announced the list of regular holidays and special non-working days for 2026. The list, based on President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Proclamation No. 1006, was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on September 3. Officials reported that these holidays will be observed nationwide, affecting both public and private sectors.
2026 Regular Holidays to Observe Nationwide
The proclamation details the following regular holidays for 2026, which will be observed throughout the Philippines:
- New Year’s Day — January 1 (Thursday)
- Maundy Thursday — April 2
- Good Friday — April 3
- Araw ng Kagitingan — April 9 (Thursday)
- Labor Day — May 1 (Friday)
- Independence Day — June 12 (Friday)
- National Heroes Day — August 31 (Monday)
- Bonifacio Day — November 30 (Monday)
- Christmas Day — December 25 (Friday)
- Rizal Day — December 30 (Wednesday)
Special and Additional Non-Working Days Announced
Alongside the regular holidays, the government also declared special (non-working) days and additional special (non-working) days for 2026. Community members said these dates provide important occasions for reflection and celebration across the nation.

- Ninoy Aquino Day — August 21 (Friday)
- All Saints’ Day — November 1 (Sunday)
- Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary — December 8 (Tuesday)
- Last Day of the Year — December 31 (Thursday)
Additional Special (Non-Working) Days
- Chinese New Year — February 17 (Tuesday)
- Black Saturday — April 4
- All Souls’ Day — November 2 (Monday)
- Christmas Eve — December 24 (Thursday)
Special Working Day for EDSA People Power Anniversary
Officials noted that the EDSA People Power Revolution Anniversary on February 25, 2026 (Wednesday), will be observed as a special working day. Classes and work in both public and private schools and offices will continue as usual on this date.
Eidul Fitr and Eidul Adha Dates to Be Announced
The proclamation also mentioned that the national holidays for Eidul Fitr and Eidul Adha will be declared once the dates are determined. “The proclamations declaring national holidays for the observance of Eidul Fitr and Eidul Adha shall be issued after the approximate dates of the Islamic holidays have been determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar (Hijra) or the lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations, whichever is possible or convenient,” the statement reads.
Local leaders added, “To this end, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos shall inform the Office of the President the actual dates on which these holidays shall fall.” The Department of Labor and Employment will later issue the implementing guidelines for this proclamation.
