Malacañang Responds to VP Sara Duterte’s Criticism
Malacañang swiftly hit back at Vice President Sara Duterte after she once again criticized the Marcos administration. During PDP Laban’s miting de avance, Duterte claimed the country is undergoing a “systematic demolition job” against political opponents. She insisted that she and her family are not the problem facing the nation.
However, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro interpreted Duterte’s remarks differently. She said it appeared the Vice President was actually describing herself and the Duterte family. “Opo, tayo po ay nakapanood ng kaniyang mga tinuran. At ang mga negatibo niya pong nabanggit doon ay mukhang ang dini-describe niya po ay ang kaniyang sarili at ang pamilya Duterte,” Castro stated.
Duterte’s Allegations Against the Current Administration
In her speech, Duterte lamented the election of a leader she described as incapable of understanding the public’s struggles. She also criticized this leader for refusing to undergo a public hair follicle drug test and accused him of lying about the rice subsidy program that promised P20 per kilo rice.
Furthermore, Duterte has been vocal about the government’s actions regarding her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte. She condemned his arrest and subsequent transfer to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Possible Legal Action Against Duterte?
When asked if charges would be filed against the Vice President for allegedly spreading false information about First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos, Castro replied there are currently no plans to pursue any cases. “Sa ngayon po, wala pa po. Wala po,” she affirmed.
Malacañang’s firm rebuttal highlights the ongoing tensions between the Duterte family and the Marcos administration amid the upcoming elections and political battles.
