Malacañang Reports No Information on Vice President Sara Duterte
Malacañang Palace declared on Wednesday that it has no information regarding the whereabouts of Vice President Sara Duterte amid the Senate impeachment court’s ongoing proceedings. This update comes as the court resumed discussions following a Supreme Court decision that labeled the impeachment case “unconstitutional.”
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro shared that the last travel authorizations for the Vice President were for her recent trips to the Netherlands and South Korea. However, she also mentioned plans for Duterte’s upcoming travel to Kuwait, which the Vice President herself had publicly announced.
Upcoming Travel Plans Remain Unconfirmed
“The vice president is said to have plans to go to Kuwait on August 8, but as we speak, no request for travel authority has been submitted yet by the vice president,” Castro noted during a briefing held in New Delhi, India.
Vice President Duterte returned to the Philippines on July 28 after her visit to South Korea. Notably, she did not attend President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s fourth State of the Nation Address on that same day.
From July 29 to 31, she was in Marinduque overseeing disaster relief operations organized by her office. Despite this, both Malacañang and the Office of the Vice President have stated they are currently unaware of her exact location.
Senate Impeachment Court Resumes Proceedings
The Senate impeachment court continues to deliberate on Duterte’s case, which was challenged by the Supreme Court. The tribunal’s sessions are closely watched as the political climate remains tense.
Local leaders and sources emphasize the importance of transparency as the situation unfolds. Meanwhile, the Vice President’s office refrains from offering additional comments about her current activities or whereabouts.
