Man Arrested for Alleged Robbery Inside Cellphone Shop in Manila
A 28-year-old man was arrested early Friday morning for alleged robbery inside a cellphone shop on Blumentritt Road, Sta. Cruz, Manila. The man, Melvin Tafalla, a resident of Sitio Limok, Barangay Balawang, Paniqui, Tarlac, was caught by patrolling officers from the Sta. Cruz Police Station (PS-3) around 7:45 a.m.
According to sources, Tafalla allegedly snatched a cellphone from John Joey Gregorio, 32, branch manager of Four R Cellshop & Trading Corporation. Gregorio immediately reported the incident to police officers who were on beat patrol nearby, prompting a swift response that led to Tafalla’s arrest.
Recovered Stolen Item and Subsequent Actions
Authorities recovered a black Huawei Nova 11i, valued at approximately P5,500, from the suspect. Following his arrest, Tafalla was brought to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center for a medical check-up before being taken to the police station for further investigation.
The police confirmed that Tafalla will face charges for robbery under Article 293 of the Revised Penal Code. Local officials emphasized the importance of community vigilance and swift police action in preventing such crimes.
