Arrest Made in Sextortion Case Involving Former Girlfriend
A man was arrested recently following a sextortion complaint filed by his former girlfriend. Reports indicate that the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) conducted an operation that led to the suspect’s capture. According to sources familiar with the matter, the suspect pressured his former girlfriend to restart their romantic relationship. The man allegedly threatened to share intimate videos of her with her family if she refused to comply with his demands. Entrapment Operation Leads to Arrest
The NBI-OTCD organized an entrapment operation to catch the suspect in the act. During the operation conducted on May 19 at a Quezon City establishment, the man continued to coerce the complainant. He reportedly said he would only delete the videos and stop the threats if she agreed to meet him at her condominium for sexual intercourse.
Once the operatives overheard this conversation, they immediately arrested the suspect. He was then brought before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for inquest. The charges filed against him include grave threats and grave coercion under the Revised Penal Code. Additionally, he faces allegations of violating several laws designed to protect women and children, including the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act, the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act, and the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
