Man Dies After Being Dragged by Train in Camarines Sur

LEGAZPI CITY — A tragic accident unfolded in Libmanan town, Camarines Sur, when a man died after being dragged by a Philippine National Railways (PNR) train on the evening of Sunday, July 6. Local authorities confirmed the incident, which occurred around 5:57 p.m. in Barangay Bagumbayan.

Col. Virgilio Olalia Jr., head of the Camarines Sur police, reported that the victim, whose identity remains unknown, suffered multiple injuries after being dragged approximately five meters by the moving train. The victim suddenly appeared on the tracks as the PNR train was heading toward Naga City.

Investigation and Identification Efforts Underway

The police immediately coordinated with village officials to assist in identifying the victim. Meanwhile, the train driver involved in the accident is still at large as the investigation continues to determine the circumstances that led to this unfortunate event.

Authorities urge the public to exercise caution near railway tracks to prevent similar tragedies. The Philippine National Railways recently redirected 10 to 12 train sets from the paused Metro Manila line to neighboring regions, including Camarines Sur.
