Manila City Mayoral Race Updates Reflect Voter Decisions

Manila City Mayoral Race Updates Reflect Voter Decisions

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna has accepted the results of the 2025 mayoral race in Manila City. According to partial and unofficial tallies, she currently holds second place with 190,087 votes as of mid-afternoon.

“Buong kababaang loob nating tinatanggap ang kapasyahan ng higit ng nakararami sa atin,” Lacuna expressed in a Facebook video. (We humbly accept the decision of the majority among us.) She also thanked voters for the opportunity to serve as the city’s first female mayor, saying, “Maraming salamat sa pagbibigay ninyo ng pagkakataon na ako’y maging kauna-unahang babaeng punong lungsod sa kasaysayan ng Maynila.” (Thank you for giving me the opportunity to become the first female mayor in Manila.)

Leading Candidate Holds Strong Vote Count

Leading the race is former Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno, who has amassed 527,600 votes as of 3:42 p.m. However, the official proclamation has yet to take place.

(The people of Manila waited almost three years for us to return; what’s a few more hours of waiting for the official proclamation? Let’s just wait patiently on the sidelines.)

He further explained that the canvassing team decided to delay the proclamation until later in the afternoon because the transmission of manual ballots was still ongoing: “Napagdesisyunan po ng ating mga canvasser na mamayang hapon na lang ituloy ang proklamasyon ng mga kandidatong nanalo sa Lungsod ng Maynila dahil hindi pa tapos i-transmit ang mga manual ballot.” (The canvassers decided to postpone the proclamation of the winning candidates in the City of Manila to this afternoon because the transmission of the manual ballots has not yet been completed.)

Other Candidates Concede in Manila City Mayoral Race

In addition to Mayor Lacuna, candidate Sam Versoza has also conceded defeat in the mayoral contest. This development further solidifies the leading candidate’s position as votes continue to be tallied.

The Manila City mayoral race updates reflect the dynamic political landscape of the city as voters make their voices heard. While official proclamations are still pending, the current tallies provide a clear picture of the electoral preferences.
