Manila Declares June 24 Special Non-Working Day for Anniversary

President Marcos has officially declared June 24 as a special non-working day in the city of Manila. This move honors Manila’s 454th founding anniversary and allows residents to fully join in the city’s celebrations and events.

The President issued this declaration through Proclamation No. 925, emphasizing the importance of giving the people of Manila the chance to take part in the festivities. “[I]t is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Manila be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” the proclamation stated.

Official Proclamation Signed

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed the proclamation on June 11, acting under the authority of the President. Local leaders and organizers welcomed the announcement, highlighting how the special non-working day will encourage community spirit and pride.

The special non-working day is expected to boost participation in various cultural and historical activities planned throughout Manila. Residents and visitors alike can enjoy programs that showcase the rich heritage and vibrant culture of the capital city.
