Manila Water Enhances Free Septic Tank Cleaning Service Amid Floods
MANILA, Philippines – Manila Water is ramping up its free septic tank cleaning service this August to help residents recover from recent typhoons and the intensified “habagat” that caused severe flooding across Luzon. The company’s free septic tank cleaning service is crucial for protecting the health and safety of its communities, especially in the East Zone concession area, which serves over 7.8 million customers and remains highly vulnerable to extreme weather events.
Floodwaters can easily overwhelm septic systems, leading to untreated sewage spilling into homes, streets, and local water sources. Manila Water is increasing its free septic tank cleaning service to prevent these dangerous overflows and reduce the risk of contamination, ensuring safer living conditions for affected households.
Expanded Service Areas for Free Septic Tank Cleaning Service
This August, the desludging campaign covers numerous barangays across Rizal and Metro Manila. In Rizal, the service is available in Mayamot and San Jose (Antipolo City); San Pedro and San Guillermo (Morong); San Isidro and San Juan (Taytay); San Pedro (Angono); Layunan, Libis, Libid, and Mambog (Binangonan); San Jose and San Isidro (Montalban/Rodriguez); and Ampid II, Banaba, Gulod Malaya, and Silangan (San Mateo).
Metro Manila residents can access the service in Rosario and Santolan (Pasig City); Palingon (Taguig City); multiple barangays in Quezon City including Alicia, Bagong Pag-asa, Damayang Lagi, Dioguino Zobel, Holy Spirit, Libis, Loyola Heights, Nayong Kanluran, New Era, Ramon Magsaysay, San Roque, and San Martin de Porres; Industrial Valley Complex (Marikina City); San Perfecto, Pedro Cruz, Pasadena, Ermitanyo, and Balong Bato (San Juan City); Tejeros (Makati City); and Burol (Mandaluyong).
Protecting Families Through Preventive Measures
Jeric Sevilla, Corporate Communication Affairs Group Director, emphasized the importance of desludging after heavy rains and flooding. “After heavy rains and flooding, septic systems are more vulnerable to overflows and contamination. Desludging is a simple but powerful way to protect your family’s health and the environment,” he said.
Unmaintained septic tanks can lead to serious health risks. When full or compromised, they allow floodwaters to carry untreated sewage into living spaces and water supplies. This contamination increases the likelihood of waterborne diseases such as cholera, hepatitis A, leptospirosis, skin infections, and gastrointestinal illnesses.
Regular desludging helps septic tanks function properly even during heavy rains, reducing the risk of these health hazards. Residents are encouraged to coordinate with their local barangay councils or call the Manila Water hotline to confirm their desludging schedule.
