Manila Water Pipeline Relocation Supports Subway Project
Manila Water has completed a critical waterline relocation in Quezon City to support the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) Anonas Station construction. This effort highlights Manila Water’s dedication to backing national infrastructure projects that improve urban mobility.
Starting in March 2025, Manila Water began relocating its pipeline across J. Bugallon, F. Castillo, and E. Evangelista Streets. The project involved open-cut excavation and the installation of a 100mm high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe, covering roughly 330 linear meters. This new section was connected to an existing 150mm PVC to 100mm HDPE pipeline along E. Evangelista Street, ensuring seamless water flow.
Ahead of Schedule Completion Minimizes Disruptions
The pipeline relocation finished ahead of schedule in April 2025. This early completion helped reduce service interruptions and operational costs while guaranteeing residents and businesses continued access to clean, reliable water.
The Metro Manila Subway, the country’s first underground mass transit system, will feature 17 stations linking key cities such as Valenzuela, Quezon City, Pasig, Mandaluyong, Taguig, and Parañaque. Once operational, it promises to ease traffic congestion, cut travel times, and improve daily commutes for millions.
Ensuring Service Continuity and Public Safety
“By relocating our waterline ahead of time, we not only enabled the timely construction of a vital transportation hub but also ensured uninterrupted water service for the communities we serve,” said a Manila Water official.
As Metro Manila evolves, Manila Water remains committed to delivering sustainable water solutions that meet the region’s changing needs. This project reflects their focus on public safety, service reliability, and active participation in nation-building.
