Manila Water Rapid Response to Mainline Leaks Shows Commitment
Manila Water’s rapid response to mainline leaks highlights its dedication to operational excellence and customer satisfaction. In June 2025, the company successfully repaired every one of the 60 mainline pipe bursts measuring 300mm or smaller within 24 hours, surpassing its 95% target.
This swift action is vital not only for reducing service interruptions but also for maintaining the high quality of water delivered. The water consistently meets the Department of Health’s Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW), achieving 100% sampling compliance during the same period.
Protecting Water Quality Through Quick Leak Response
Responding quickly to leaks and pipe bursts prevents contaminants from entering the distribution system. It also helps maintain stable water pressure and preserves the purity of treated water as it travels through pipelines. This proactive approach builds customer trust and supports public health objectives.
Moreover, Manila Water’s fast leak management keeps Non-Revenue Water (NRW)—water lost through leaks and illegal connections—below 15%. This rate rivals those of developed nations, reflecting the company’s effective control measures.
Advanced Monitoring and Dedicated Teams Drive Success
“Our ability to respond quickly to pipe bursts is made possible by our diligent and agile frontliners, as well as our advanced network monitoring systems. By acting fast, we protect water quality and ensure that every drop reaches our customers, supporting both public health and environmental sustainability,” said Jeric Sevilla, Communication Affairs Group Director, according to local sources.
The success stems from Manila Water’s integrated approach combining technology, field response teams, and community engagement. These efforts ensure reliable water service to over 7.8 million residents across the East Zone and parts of Rizal.
Significant Progress in Environmental Stewardship
In line with improving sanitation, Manila Water’s Non-East Zone unit recently inaugurated a Septage Treatment Facility in Barangay Dinagan, Calbayog City, Samar. When fully operational, this facility will serve up to 15,000 households on a five-year desludging cycle and operate 240 days annually, marking a big step toward environmental care.
These initiatives demonstrate Manila Water’s ongoing commitment to sustainable water management and customer service excellence.
