Manila Water Relief Efforts in Southwest Monsoon
Manila Water has ramped up its relief efforts amid the continuous rains brought by the southwest monsoon, locally known as Habagat. This situation worsened due to back-to-back typhoons Crising, Dante, and Emong. The company’s swift response focuses on supporting communities affected by these weather disturbances.
As of July 25, Manila Water, through the Manila Water Foundation and its East Zone Service areas, continues aiding 173 verified evacuation centers. These centers currently shelter 10,406 families, totaling 39,253 individuals. This number shows a notable decline from previous days as many families are beginning to return home.
Water Distribution Across Metro Manila and Rizal
In Quezon City, Manila Water Foundation delivered 320 units of 5-gallon potable water to barangays Culiat, Quirino 2-A, Vasra, East Kamias, and Pasong Tamo. Additional shipments will reach Damayan Lagi, Roxas, and Sauyo soon. Meanwhile, Manila City Hall is set to receive 300 units of bottled water.
Further relief efforts extended to Rodriguez, Rizal, where 275 units of 5-gallon water were sent to the evacuation center in Barangay San Jose. Nearby municipalities such as Pasig City, Cainta, Taytay, Binangonan, and Morong also received support. In Baras, Rizal, Manila Water provided 200 vials of Erceflora probiotics to aid evacuees’ digestive health.
In Taguig City, Manila Water Foundation and the Taguig Service Area jointly delivered 400 bottled water units to Taguig City Health, ensuring displaced residents have access to clean drinking water.
Supporting Sanitation and Environmental Care
Manila Water’s efforts go beyond water distribution. The company conducted flushing operations using reused water in key public facilities affected by Tropical Storm Dante and Habagat rains. These include San Jose High School in Rodriguez, Malanday Covered Court in San Mateo, and Parang Elementary School in Marikina.
In collaboration with local governments, Manila Water also deployed tankers carrying “Class C” treated wastewater to aid road clearing and public space sanitation. This initiative enabled swift cleanup in heavily affected areas while highlighting the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship through responsible water reuse.
Ongoing Commitment to Communities
The company remains dedicated to supporting communities in need. Relief teams stand ready to assist with ongoing post-evacuation cleaning and sanitation. As of July 25, Manila Water has distributed a total of 3,875 units of 5-gallon potable water across typhoon-affected areas within Metro Manila’s East Zone and Rizal Province.
Local leaders noted the importance of this collaboration, emphasizing how effective coordination helped accelerate relief and recovery operations. Manila Water’s continued partnership with government units ensures that resources reach those who need them most, even as families begin returning home.
