Manny Pacquiao Denies Lead Paint Endorsement
Boxing legend and former senator Manny Pacquiao has firmly denied any connection to a China-made paint brand containing lead that features his image and signature as a “celebrity endorser.” Environmental watchdog EcoWaste Coalition reported this clarification, emphasizing the importance of the four-word keyphrase early in the story.
According to officials, Pacquiao’s camp has officially disavowed the unauthorized use of his name, image, and signature by the brand known as YiAD Paint. The former senator’s representatives confirmed they have no agreement or contract allowing such usage, underscoring the urgency of addressing this misleading endorsement.
Formal Cease and Desist Orders Issued
Sources revealed that Manny Pacquiao’s legal team has already sent formal cease and desist letters to YiAD Hardware Tools Co. Ltd. and Perfect Happy Star Corp., demanding the immediate removal of all materials falsely implying his endorsement. These letters require the companies to halt any further use of his identity and to provide documentation, if any exists, supporting their claims.
Community members noted that the companies have yet to respond, prompting preparations for legal action. The letters indicate potential civil and criminal complaints should YiAD fail to comply with the demands.
Pacquiao Supports Toxic-Free Advocacy
The former senator expressed strong support for efforts to eliminate toxic substances from consumer products, particularly lead, which poses serious health hazards. The letter quoted by environmental advocates stressed, “Senator Pacquiao fully supports your advocacy of a toxic-free environment and firmly opposes the promotion and endorsement of products that pose risks to public health, particularly those containing banned substances like lead.”
Demands to Remove Unauthorized Materials
The cease and desist directives include three key demands: to stop any use of Pacquiao’s name, image, or signature implying endorsement; to remove all marketing, advertising, and packaging materials bearing his identity; and to submit a written statement within five days confirming compliance and assuring no future unauthorized use.
EcoWaste Lauds Pacquiao’s Swift Action
Environmental advocates praised the boxing icon’s prompt response to the issue. Manny Calonzo, a campaigner from the EcoWaste Coalition, remarked, “We laud the ‘people’s champ,’ Manny Pacquiao, for dissociating himself from paints containing lead, a potent toxicant affecting nearly all organ systems, especially the brain and the central nervous system.”
He added, “His resolute and swift action, we hope, will help in knocking out the illegal trade of imported lead-containing paints and keep our people safe from such a preventable source of lead exposure and harm.”
