President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. called on the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Council to rethink their rules. He wants to ease the struggle of Filipino professionals who face challenges when renewing their licenses.
Speaking at the 123rd Labor Day celebration, Marcos spoke from the heart. “Hindi po kaila sa akin ang hirap na inyong pinagdaraanan upang makapag-renew ng inyong mga ID,” he said. Many professionals have voiced complaints about the time and cost involved in the training required for license renewal.
Marcos didn’t stop there. “Kaya ang panawagan ko sa PRC at sa Continuing Professional Development Council, bisitahin natin ang ating mga panuntunan. Tingnan natin kung nararapat ang ating mga training na ginagawa,” he urged. He wants a thorough review to ensure the trainings are truly necessary and fair.
The CPD is mandatory—filipino professionals must complete it before renewing their Professional Identification Cards. Established by the CPD Act of 2016, this system aims to boost professional skills through regular seminars and workshops. But for many, the process feels like a heavy burden.
Could this call for change bring relief to countless hardworking Filipinos? The eyes of the professional community are now on the PRC and CPD Council, waiting for a response that could reshape their future.
