Marcos Visits Rizal School to Check on Evacuees After Flooding

Severe Tropical Storm Emong Intensifies
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that Tropical Storm Emong intensified into a severe tropical storm by 2 a.m. on Thursday. It was last tracked 245 kilometers west of Bacnotan, La Union, moving southeastward before expected to shift north-northeast within 24 hours.
This storm has contributed to the widespread flooding and displacement in several areas, including Rizal.
Casualties and Impact Across Regions
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council confirmed 12 deaths linked to recent tropical cyclones and the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat. The fatalities occurred across multiple regions: three in Calabarzon, three in Northern Mindanao, two in Western Visayas, and one each in Mimaropa, the Davao Region, Caraga Region, and Metro Manila.
Local leaders noted the urgency of continuing relief operations as more communities remain vulnerable.
