Easy Access to Traffic Violation Details with May Huli Ka 2.0
Motorists can now quickly check if they have traffic violations under NCAP with just a few taps. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) unveiled the “May Huli Ka 2.0” mobile app on June 16, a web-based platform designed to provide vehicle owners easy access to traffic violation information captured by AI-powered CCTV cameras.
MMDA chairperson Don Artes explained that this app simplifies the process of checking violations and guides users on payment procedures. This marks a significant step in promoting driver discipline and aligns with the government’s drive to digitalize public services.
“We are continuously making innovations to improve the services under NCAP… and in doing so a lot of factors are considered including the need to observe data privacy,” Artes shared.
Enhanced Security and User Experience
Unlike before, when users only needed to enter a license plate number, the new app requires the motor vehicle (MV) file number as well. This added layer of security protects vehicle owners from unauthorized access to their violation records.
“Before, vehicle owners verify their violations by simply entering their plate numbers on the former website. This system raised data privacy concerns, prompting the need for a more secure and authenticated access,” Artes said.
The app also provides detailed instructions on contesting violations, payment methods, and authorized payment centers. It offers a comprehensive solution for motorists to manage their traffic fines efficiently.
Upcoming Features and Innovations
During a recent briefing, Artes revealed plans to enhance the app by including real-time SMS and email alerts for new violations. Users with multiple vehicles will be able to manage all registrations under one account. Online contest filing, hearing schedules, and payment integration are also in the pipeline.
“The MMDA will also launch a real-time notification system that includes SMS and email alerts, along with online access to violation details,” Artes added.
Expanding NCAP Coverage with More CCTVs
NCAP implementation resumed on May 26 following the Supreme Court’s decision to lift a temporary restraining order. In its first week, over 5,400 violators were recorded.
Most AI-run CCTV cameras are currently installed along EDSA, but the MMDA plans to deploy nearly 1,000 more across major roads in Metro Manila. Meanwhile, MMDA enforcers supplement the efforts in areas not yet covered by cameras.
This expansion aims to make traffic regulation more effective and accessible, harnessing technology to improve road discipline.
