Mayor Cayetano and Angara Visit Taguig Schools Early
Mayor Lani Cayetano and Education Secretary Sonny Angara made rounds in Taguig schools on Monday, June 16, to welcome students and teachers. Their visit focused on the Tenement Elementary School in Barangay Western Bicutan, which ranks fifth among elementary schools with the largest enrollment in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Local leaders noted that the opening of classes in Taguig went smoothly this year. More than 181,000 students enrolled across 52 public schools in the city, marking a strong start to the academic year. The city’s education division and local government worked closely to ensure everything was in place before classes began.
Welcoming Students with School Supplies
Before the formal opening, Taguig held a soft launch on June 13. During this event, students received free school supplies and uniforms, easing the start of classes for many families. This initiative aimed to support the community and promote equal opportunities for all students.
Mayor Cayetano also visited Fort Bonifacio Elementary School in Barangay West Rembo, Ususan Elementary School in Barangay Ususan, and Taguig Science High School in Barangay San Miguel. At each location, she greeted students warmly, encouraging them to make the most of their education.
Education officials and city representatives expressed optimism about the school year ahead. They highlighted the importance of continued cooperation to maintain a safe and productive learning environment.
