Flood Situation Hits Metro Manila Streets

Metro Manila is facing severe flooding on several streets this Saturday evening due to heavy rains, local authorities reported. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) confirmed that the flood situation has worsened in key areas, affecting daily commutes and vehicle passage.

According to the MMDA’s latest update at 6:15 p.m., multiple roads across the city have been inundated. The flood situation continues to disrupt traffic flow and poses challenges to motorists navigating these areas.

Flood Situation Updates by Area

Quezon City

– G. Araneta E Rodriguez Avenue (both southbound and northbound): Floodwater is gutter deep but passable to all vehicle types.
– EDSA northbound after Quezon Avenue flyover: Water reaches half gutter depth, allowing passage for all vehicles.
– Quezon Avenue at Biak na Bato (eastbound and westbound): Water is waist deep, making it impassable for light vehicles.
– EDSA northbound at Balintawak: Gutter deep flooding, passable to all vehicles.
– G. Araneta Avenue at Karilaya (southbound and northbound): Knee deep water, not passable to light vehicles.
– A. Bonifacio Avenue at Cloverleaf (southbound and northbound): Knee deep, restricting light vehicles from passing.

Caloocan City

– C3 NLEX Connector Intersection: Knee deep flooding, light vehicles are unable to pass.

Manila City

– España Boulevard and Lacson to Vicente Cruz (eastbound and westbound): Knee deep floodwater, blocking light vehicles.

Heavy Rains Bring Intense Flooding Across Metro Manila

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued a thunderstorm advisory at 4:37 p.m., warning of intense to torrential rains accompanied by lightning and strong winds across Metro Manila. Areas affected include Quezon City, Manila, Caloocan, Valenzuela, Malabon, Navotas, Muntinlupa, Marikina, Mandaluyong, and San Juan.

Furthermore, eight other provinces in Luzon are also experiencing similar weather disturbances, complicating travel and daily activities for residents. Local officials urge motorists and commuters to exercise caution in flood-prone areas and monitor weather updates closely.
