Scout Ranger’s Remains Brought Home with Military Honors
DUMAGUETE CITY — The remains of the late Pfc. Julian Redondo Oracion were solemnly returned to Negros Oriental on Monday. The 26-year-old Scout Ranger, who was killed during a clash with suspected rebels in Oriental Mindoro, was honored by military personnel upon arrival.
Oracion’s death occurred during a fierce encounter with suspected New People’s Army rebels in Baco town on August 12. He was one of three soldiers from the First Scout Ranger Regiment of the Philippine Army who lost their lives in the conflict. The late soldier came from La Libertad, Negros Oriental, and his homecoming was marked by deep respect and solemnity.
Arrival and Military Honors at Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport
A Philippine Air Force C-130 aircraft transported Oracion’s remains to Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport. The 11th Infantry Battalion, led by Lt. Col. Sol Zaulda, conducted the military honors to pay tribute to the fallen soldier. Community members and military officials stood in silent respect as the ceremony unfolded.
Oracion’s mother, Susana, together with some family members, accompanied his remains to La Libertad. The family expressed profound grief and appreciation for the support they received during this difficult time.
A Mother’s Heartfelt Words Amid Loss
“It is painful and that I did not expect this to happen to him,” Susana shared in a heartfelt interview. As a single mother of 12 children, Julian was her ninth child. Despite the sorrow, she voiced her gratitude for the assistance provided by the government and various agencies.
Community members noted the strong support the family has received, which has helped them cope with their loss. The military and local officials continue to honor the sacrifices of soldiers like Oracion who serve the nation.
