MindSpark Science Museum Ignites Curiosity in Students

MindSpark Science Museum Opens to Inspire Filipino Youth

Education Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara described the newly launched MindSpark Science Museum as a “Disneyland” for students passionate about science. He led the grand opening held on August 12, 2025, at Ayala Malls Manila Bay in Parañaque City, emphasizing the museum’s role in nurturing curiosity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The MindSpark Science Museum, the country’s largest science museum, spans 9,000 square meters and boasts over 100 interactive exhibits along with 30 themed rooms focused on STEM disciplines, officials reported. This innovative facility aims to spark deeper understanding and engagement among learners of all ages.

A New Educational Hub for STEM Learning

Organized by the Philippine Amusement and Entertainment Corp. (PAEC), MindSpark is envisioned as an extension of traditional classrooms. It provides a simulated environment where students can explore scientific concepts hands-on, community members noted. PAEC is recognized as the leading developer of interactive educational attractions nationwide, including other museums and learning centers.

“I am happy because this helps in the education of our youth, and anything that helps that, we support it,” Angara said during his keynote address. He acknowledged the scarcity of such enriching venues in the country, which has often left parents wondering where to take their children for meaningful weekend activities.

Addressing Challenges and Embracing Nation-Building

Highlighting the importance of positive influences on young minds, Angara stressed, “It’s time we put the right things in the minds of our children,” especially amid growing exposure to negative online content. Local leaders noted that MindSpark’s launch aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s recent call to harness the benefits of science and technology for national progress.

“This is not just a commercial exercise, but for me, this is also an exercise of nation-building,” Angara added, underscoring the museum’s broader significance beyond entertainment.

Immersive Exhibits That Bring Science to Life

The museum features captivating attractions such as a giant walkthrough model of the human heart, a real-life hospital laboratory, and detailed anatomy displays. Visitors can also experience a moving presentation of an insect’s life cycle and explore interactive zones dedicated to bubble science, robotics, artificial intelligence, fire safety, engineering design, and gemology, sources said.

Angara remarked, “We all know that even the smallest spark, whether from a simple experiment in a classroom, can inspire a student to have a Filipino-made invention that can even change the world.”

Encouraging Educational Visits and Community Innovation

He encouraged educators to consider MindSpark as a prime destination for school exposure trips. “For museums like this one, we can give our youth a direction to change and more ways for innovation not just inside their schools, but also through the community,” Angara said.

As MindSpark opens its doors, it promises to become a vibrant hub where Filipino youth can ignite their passion for STEM and contribute to the country’s future achievements.
