Minor Phreatic Eruption Hits Taal Volcano
On Thursday afternoon, a minor phreatic eruption occurred at Taal Volcano, local authorities reported. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) confirmed the event after analyzing monitoring data.
Phivolcs stated that minor phreatomagmatic eruptive events took place between 3:01 p.m. and 3:13 p.m. at the volcano’s main crater. These observations were based on detailed reviews of seismic and volcanic activity reports.
Seismic Activity Preceding the Eruption
Earlier in the week, Phivolcs recorded two volcanic earthquakes at Taal along with a volcanic tremor that lasted for five minutes. These seismic events were documented on Tuesday and shared through a bulletin on Wednesday.
While the agency has not yet disclosed further details about the eruption’s impact or potential hazards, local experts continue to monitor the volcano closely to ensure public safety.
