Misamis Oriental Employees Face Delayed Financial Benefits
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The delayed release of financial benefits has stirred concern among Misamis Oriental provincial employees. Provincial administrator John Venice Ladaga has assured that the issue is being thoroughly investigated to resolve the delays affecting the payment of allowances and bonuses.
Several provincial government employees shared their worries on social media about the overdue clothing allowance and midyear bonuses. These benefits, crucial to their welfare, have been pending beyond the usual schedule, prompting calls for transparency and timely distribution.
Administrator Promises Updates on Benefits
Ladaga acknowledged the concerns and emphasized that the matter has already been addressed. He pledged to provide updates once new developments arise, aiming to restore confidence among the workforce. The provincial administrator highlighted the importance of these benefits to the employees’ morale and livelihood.
Typically, the clothing allowance, which currently amounts to P7,000 per eligible employee, is distributed starting the first week of April each year. Part of this allowance is allocated directly to uniform suppliers — P2,600 for female employees and P2,650 for male employees — while the remainder is given in cash to the recipients.
Midyear Bonuses Still Unpaid, Adding to Employee Concerns
In addition to the clothing allowance, employees have reported that their midyear bonuses remain unpaid. These bonuses, equivalent to a monthly basic salary, are usually released by mid-May but have not yet reached the employees this year. This delay has led to growing frustration among the provincial workforce.
Earlier, outgoing Governor Peter Unabia clarified that the timeline for bonus payments does not align with a May 15 release. He explained that, by definition, midyear bonuses should be paid at the end of June. Unabia is set to step down on June 30 after losing his reelection bid in the recent midterm elections.
Local officials and employees alike are hopeful that the provincial administration will expedite the release of these essential financial benefits. The prompt resolution of this issue is seen as vital to maintaining trust and supporting the hardworking staff of Misamis Oriental.
