Moderate to Heavy Rain Showers Expected in Luzon Provinces
MANILA, Philippines — Moderate to heavy rain showers are forecast in four provinces in Luzon, weather officials said on Tuesday. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned residents of the potential impacts as the wet weather continues.
According to Pagasa’s thunderstorm advisory issued at 1:16 p.m., moderate to heavy rain showers with lightning and strong winds are likely to affect Zambales, Rizal, Cavite, and Batangas within the next two hours. These conditions may also extend to nearby areas.
Areas Experiencing Severe Weather
The weather bureau reported that several other locations are currently experiencing these conditions, which may persist for at least two hours. These include parts of Laguna—such as Nagcarlan, Rizal, Liliw, Magdalena, San Pablo, and Majayjay—as well as Carranglan in Nueva Ecija and Calauag in Quezon.
“All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,” local authorities urged, stressing the importance of vigilance amid the weather disturbance.
Low-Pressure Area Monitoring Continues
Earlier, Pagasa noted that a trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine area of responsibility is expected to influence weather conditions in Luzon and parts of the Visayas. This LPA was last recorded about 650 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes.
Despite its current “low” chance of developing into a tropical cyclone, the LPA remains under close watch as it approaches the landmass of Luzon. Authorities continue to monitor its path and potential effects on rainfall and wind intensity in affected provinces.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated through official announcements and take necessary precautions to minimize risks from flooding and landslides during this period of moderate to heavy rain showers.
