Moderate to Heavy Rainfall Forecast in Luzon Areas
Metro Manila and four provinces in Luzon are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall this Saturday afternoon, sources said. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued a thunderstorm advisory warning residents about the incoming weather conditions.
According to the advisory released at 4:53 p.m., moderate to heavy rain showers accompanied by lightning and strong winds will affect Metro Manila, Tarlac, Rizal, Cavite, and Zambales within the next two hours. These areas should prepare for sudden downpours and possible disruptions.
Areas Currently Experiencing Heavy Rainfall
Pagasa also reported that nearby localities in Quezon—specifically Sampaloc, Lucban, and Mauban—and parts of Laguna, including Cavinti and Luisiana, are already experiencing similar conditions. These weather patterns may persist for the next two hours and could extend to adjacent areas.
“All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,” local authorities emphasized, urging the public to stay alert and prioritize safety during this period.
Weather Developments and Monitoring
Earlier forecasts indicate that the southwest monsoon, commonly known as habagat, will continue to bring widespread rain showers across much of the country. Meanwhile, the weather bureau is closely monitoring a low-pressure area (formerly Fabian) and Severe Tropical Storm Podul. Both systems remain outside the Philippine area of responsibility and currently pose no direct threat to the nation.
