Moderate to Heavy Rainfall Forecast in Luzon Areas

Heavy Rainfall Expected Across Luzon

Many parts of Luzon are set to experience moderate to heavy rainfall on Tuesday due to the influence of a low pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon, locally known as the habagat, officials reported. This weather pattern is expected to bring significant precipitation, with some areas receiving between 50 to 100 millimeters of rain.

Areas Affected by the Low Pressure Area

According to the 5 a.m. heavy rainfall outlook from the national weather bureau, the following provinces will likely be hit by rainfall caused by the LPA:

  • Isabela
  • Aurora
  • Bulacan
  • Quezon
  • Laguna
  • Rizal
  • Camarines Norte
  • Camarines Sur
  • Albay
  • Sorsogon
  • Catanduanes
  • Masbate

Regions Impacted by the Southwest Monsoon

Meanwhile, the habagat will bring moderate to heavy rainfall to several other areas, including:

  • Palawan
  • Occidental Mindoro
  • Antique

Weather System Developments and Forecast

Weather specialists noted that although the low pressure area is approaching the Philippine landmass, the chance of it developing into a tropical depression has decreased and remains low. The LPA was last tracked early Tuesday morning over the coastal waters near Paracale, Camarines Norte.

Rainfall Outlook for Wednesday

The same weather systems will continue to affect several provinces on Wednesday, bringing moderate to heavy rains. The LPA is expected to cause rainfall in:

  • Aurora
  • Bulacan
  • Quezon
  • Nueva Ecija
  • Rizal
  • Camarines Norte
  • Camarines Sur

At the same time, the habagat will bring heavy rains to:

  • Palawan
  • Occidental Mindoro
  • Oriental Mindoro
  • Antique
  • Negros Occidental

Thursday Rainfall Forecast and Potential Hazards

Forecasters also predict that the habagat will continue to deliver moderate to heavy rainfall on Thursday, particularly in Palawan and Occidental Mindoro. Authorities have warned that flooding may occur in urbanized, low-lying, or river-adjacent areas. Additionally, landslides remain a threat in highly susceptible mountainous regions.

Officials emphasized that rainfall could be heavier in elevated locations. They also cautioned that the impact in some places may worsen due to significant prior rainfall. Community members are urged to stay alert and take necessary precautions amid these weather conditions.
