Mothers are the quiet strength behind families
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. took time on Sunday to honor mothers across the Philippines as the nation celebrated Mother’s Day. He expressed deep gratitude for their unwavering love and sacrifices, recognizing their vital role within every household.
On his social media account, the President shared a heartfelt collage featuring his mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos; his wife, First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos; and his sister, Irene Marcos. They were positioned at the center, symbolizing the importance of mothers in his own family.
“Mothers are the quiet strength behind every family,” Marcos emphasized. He added that they care, nurture, and guide without expecting anything in return. Their love, he said, knows no limits—and neither does their sacrifice.
Recognizing mothers as the light
Reflecting on the special day, the President shared a message in Filipino: “Ngayong Mother’s Day, taos-puso kong kinikilala at pinasasalamatan ang lahat ng ilaw ng tahanan. Maraming salamat sa inyong walang kapantay na pagmamahal at pagkalinga.” This translates to his heartfelt recognition and thanks to all mothers who serve as the light of the home.
Interestingly, his elder sister, Senator Imee Marcos, was not included in the collage shared online. Despite this, the message clearly highlighted the essential role mothers play in families everywhere.
As the nation paused to honor moms, the President’s tribute served as a reminder of their quiet strength and boundless love that keep families together through every challenge.
