Motorcycle License Suspension Remains Until Motorcycle Surrendered

License Suspension and Motorcycle Surrender Explained

For motorcycle enthusiasts, losing the privilege to ride is a hard blow. This is especially true for a female motovlogger who relies on riding not just for passion but also for her livelihood. Recently, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) confirmed that the suspension of her driver’s license will remain in effect until she surrenders the motorcycle involved in a viral road rage incident in Zambales.

The female motovlogger appeared at the LTO Central Office on May 23 to clarify her side and to obtain a copy of the resolution concerning her case. She was fined a total of ₱7,000 and faced a suspension of her driver’s license. Officials explained the suspension will not be lifted until she complies with the condition to hand over the motorcycle used during the incident.

Details of the Violations and Hearings

During the hearing, the motovlogger informed the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division chief that she missed two previous hearings because her address had been publicly posted online, raising security concerns. Despite her explanation, the LTO maintained that the suspension stands until she meets the required conditions.

She was fined ₱2,000 for reckless driving and ₱5,000 for operating a motorcycle without side mirrors. Additionally, the registration of her motorcycle was suspended pending compliance with the surrender order.

A third violation involved the motorcycle lacking license plates at the time of the incident. However, since she was not the registered owner, she was not penalized for this offense. Nonetheless, the LTO emphasized the need for the motorcycle’s surrender due to suspicions regarding its registration status—an order the motovlogger has yet to fulfill.

Surrender Condition and Outstanding Fines

Sources familiar with the matter revealed that LTO officials requested the real name of the motorcycle owner to serve a show cause order and bring the vehicle under official scrutiny. It remains unclear whether the motovlogger disclosed this information.

Moreover, the ₱7,000 fine imposed on her remains unpaid. LTO officials stressed that all penalties must be settled before any reconsideration can be made.

Official Reminder on Traffic Discipline

The LTO chief reinforced the importance of following traffic regulations, emphasizing that courteous and disciplined driving helps avoid incidents and legal troubles. This case highlights the strict enforcement of rules and the consequences of non-compliance, especially for public figures and content creators who influence many viewers.
