Motorcycle Rider Arrested for Threatening Driver with Firearm in Marikina
Authorities arrested a motorcycle rider in Marikina City after he allegedly threatened another motorist with a loaded gun. The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon at a gas station in Barangay Concepcion Uno.
The victim was driving along J.P. Rizal Street when the motorcycle rider honked aggressively and tried to overtake amid heavy traffic. According to the police, the suspect then cursed at the victim and tailed him until they reached a nearby gas station where the victim stopped to confront him.
Verbal Threats Escalate to Violence
At the gas station, the motorcycle rider reportedly continued shouting verbal threats. He pulled out a firearm from his bag and shouted, “Gusto mo, barilin kita?” (Do you want me to shoot you?). The suspect then punched the victim in the face and kicked the victim’s vehicle, causing visible damage.
The suspect tried to escape but was immediately detained by responding officers. Police noted that the suspect appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during the incident.
Evidence Confiscated and Charges Filed
Authorities confiscated a loaded .38 caliber revolver, the suspect’s sling bag, and his motorcycle as evidence following the arrest. The suspect now faces multiple charges, including physical injury, grave threat, malicious mischief, and violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (Republic Act 10591).
Local officials stressed the importance of following traffic laws and handling disputes calmly to avoid violent confrontations like this. The NCRPO continues to monitor and enforce regulations to ensure public safety on the roads.
