MRT-3 Free Rides Every Wednesday in August
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced that MRT-3 will offer free rides every Wednesday in August for passengers presenting their National ID. This initiative aims to encourage the use of the National ID among commuters.
The free rides will be available on August 6, 13, 20, and 27 during two time slots: from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Passengers must show their National ID to avail themselves of the free ride offer.
How to Avail Free MRT-3 Rides
According to sources, commuters can present either the physical National ID card, a printed paper version, or a digital copy. Security personnel at the MRT-3 station service gates will verify the IDs before allowing free access.
The DOTr highlighted that this program aligns with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s goal to popularize the National ID. The aim is to make transactions simpler and social services more accessible across both public and private sectors.
Encouraging National ID Usage
Local leaders noted that the move to provide free MRT-3 rides encourages more Filipinos to use their National IDs. This will help speed up processes and improve inclusivity in government services.
Commuters are urged to take advantage of this limited-time offer and bring their valid National IDs every Wednesday in August during the specified hours.
