Free Delivery Service for Senior Citizens in Muntinlupa
The Muntinlupa City government is set to launch a free delivery service aimed at bringing maintenance medicine directly to the homes of senior citizens. This new initiative, named RIDE Med or Responsive Integrated Delivery of Essential Medicines, is designed to ease the challenges faced by elderly residents, especially those with limited mobility.
Mayor Ruffy Biazon explained that the goal is to remove the obstacles that prevent many seniors from accessing vital treatments. “Hindi natin pwedeng hayaan na ang ating mga lolo at lola, lalo na yung mga hindi na makalakad, ay mapag-iwanan. Serbisyo na ang lalapit sa kanila. Sa RIDE Med, ihahatid na natin ang gamot diretso sa bahay ng senior citizen,” he said, emphasizing the city’s commitment to serving its elderly population.
Eligibility and Program Details
The free delivery service primarily targets senior citizens aged 80 and above, along with bedridden residents aged 60 or older. Through this program, eligible seniors will receive monthly deliveries of prescribed maintenance medicines, such as losartan, amlodipine, metformin, and atorvastatin. These drugs address common health concerns among the elderly, including hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol.
RIDE Med riders will carry out the deliveries, accompanied by barangay health workers to ensure proper coordination and follow-up care. To qualify, seniors must be residents of Muntinlupa City. Registration can be done by caregivers or relatives at barangay health centers, and home registration is also available by contacting the program’s dedicated hotlines.
Additional Support for Other Senior Citizens
Mayor Biazon also noted that senior citizens who do not meet the bedridden or age criteria can still access free maintenance medicines by enrolling in the existing “Love ko si Lolo, Love ko si Lola” program. These seniors can claim their medicines at local health centers.
The city government stresses that RIDE Med represents a new level of care, offering not only free medicines but also dignity and peace of mind for seniors and their families. “This is healthcare reaching those who need it most, where they are,” the mayor said.
How to Register and Contact Information
Residents interested in the RIDE Med program can register through their local barangay health centers or request home registration by calling the designated hotlines at 0908-208-1044, 0908-725-4288, or 851-3485.
This initiative highlights Muntinlupa’s dedication to improving the quality of life for its elderly citizens by providing essential services directly to their doorsteps.
