President Marcos Names Those Behind Failed Flood-Control Projects
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has disclosed that he already knows the names of those responsible for the failed flood-control projects that submerged several parts of the country in recent weeks. He shared this during the first part of the third episode of the PBBM Podcast, titled “Sa Likod ng Sona,” which aired on Monday.
“We already have some names that are coming up, which will be—first of all, corporations that—contractors whose poor work is very obvious,” Marcos said. “So, we will put them on a blacklist. They can no longer contract with the government,” he added in a mix of English and Filipino.
Accountability for Flood-Control Projects
The president emphasized that these companies must explain how they used the funds allocated to their projects. “If they can’t explain properly, we will have to take it to the next step,” he stated.
During his fourth State of the Nation Address on July 28, Marcos directed the Department of Public Works and Highways to submit a comprehensive list of all flood control projects from the past three years. The list is to highlight projects that failed or never materialized.
Call for Public Participation
Marcos encouraged citizens who have seen irregularities in flood control initiatives in their communities to review the submitted list and help with the investigation. This community involvement aims to ensure transparency and swift action against those accountable.
Local leaders and sources said the president’s firm stance signals a strong move toward justice and improved infrastructure management.
